Apprenticeship

2015 - 2019

In my apprenticeship, as a computer scientist VET (specialized in system technology), I first learned the basics at the BBC vocational training center. I got to know many new things and especially what computer science is all about. After this basic apprenticeship year, I started to work in the military industry and to use and expand my knowledge there. I was able to change departments during this time to gain more experience in different areas. However, I quickly found my passion when I started working in the middleware area. Mainly it was about the installation and operation of various application- and web servers and their applications. I learned the familiar handling of Apache Webserver, Apache Tomcat, and IBM WebSphere Liberty Profile, which ultimately made up a large part of my daily business. To develop and run these as well as other services of the middleware Linux stack, bash and shell scripts were essential for survival. To automate these services and platforms, I pulled up GitLab and UrbanCode Deploy. With these tools, I then started building CI/CD pipelines for the existing as well as future services and platforms. At the end of my apprenticeship, I did an individual practical assignment (IPA) on Continuous Integration (CI) & Continuous Deployment (CD) for Apache Webserver and PHP. This IPA is about executing and documenting a project within ten days from the beginning of the planning to the end of the implementation. With the knowledge and experience, I gained in these four years, I have built a solid foundation and can now start professionally after my apprenticeship and strive for my professional career.
